The Scott & White Pathology Department’s outreach services, the Reference Laboratory, has been in operation since 1978. The Scott & White mission statement best describes the philosophy of practice of the Reference Laboratory.

Each specimen is handled as a patient consultation. The core laboratory serves the Scott & White fully-integrated health system with a 636-bed Level 1 Trauma Center in Temple, an additional 50-bed Long Term Acute Care Hospital in Texas, another 150-bed acute care hospital in Temple, a 76-bed acute care facility in Round Rock (greater Austin area), and a network of 50 primary and specialty clinics throughout the region.

The large multidisciplinary group practice (over 800 physicians and research scientists) also has residency programs in almost all disciplines, as well as selected fellowships.

Locations

The main core laboratory for the Scott & White system is in Temple, TX. However, most of our regional clinics have laboratories that support clinical practice and also provide patient specimen collection and blood drawing services.

Phlebotomy Services

At times, the Reference Laboratory is able to provide phlebotomy services to area nursing homes and locations. Please call our offices to inquire about the option.
