Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program Application and Selection Process

We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and adhere to all policies and guidelines. We only accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) match program. Contact your Student Affairs Office for assistance in submitting an application. After a thorough review by the Admissions Committee, an email notification will be sent to applicants who will be invited to interview with our program.

Scott & White accepts only the J1 visa for those individuals who require a visa in order to be work-authorized.

Application deadline: November 15

Requirements

We require a minimum of three letters of recommendation. Applications for orthopedic surgery residency in the TAMHSC-S&W program are reviewed with emphasis on the following:

  • Class rank
  • Election to AOA or other honors
  • USMLE steps I and II
  • Review of personal statement
  • Review of Dean's letter, with special attention to surgery clerkship grade
  • Research/publications a plus
  • Employment history
  • Outside interests/hobbies/activities
